About Ned Wells.

I help charities and social enterprises to build capacity and reach new commercial clients. Working with me they develop strategic marketing capacity, sort out the technology they need, broaden their income base and build a more resilient organisation.

Ned who?

Hi, I’m Ned Wells. I come with 25+ years of varied business experience, starting as a manufacturing engineer and then as a management consultant with PwC. Looking for something more local I joined a fast-growing web development agency as head of strategy, helping businesses of every hue to get more from their websites.

In 2002 I started my own marketing business, learning SEO and other sorts of digital wizardry along the way. I merged the business and grew it successfully, helping hundreds of organisations to achieve their marketing objectives.

But it was the charities and membership organisations that I loved working with most. People who are passionate about causes that matter. I do my best work when I really care about what my clients are doing.

In 2018 I sold my stake in the business. I wanted to focus completely on using my commercial expertise to help social enterprises and charities to grow sustainably. And that’s what I do every day now. Well, most days – see below. I particularly love helping organisations concerned with education, young people, nature and the environment.

And when I’m not in the office?

  • Campaigning for sewage-free rivers; achieved ‘Designated Bathing Water Status’ for the Thames at Oxford in 2022. Check out this article in Positive News. I collaborated with Thames Water on a local sewage discharge alert system that was so successful they rolled it out across their catchment in the form of this map.
